Energy in Control is not only referring to electrical energy – as it is produced by e.g. the NSC Power Plant – or other types of "power", but is also a form of mental characteristic that is accessed by Jesse Faden when performing certain actions connected to her abilities, such as evade, using the Shield or launching objects, debris or enemies into the air. Though Jesse's melee attacks seem to consume energy, this actually is not the case. The energy currently available for Jesse's actions is shown by a meter at the top of the user interface whenever the pool is accessed.
For example, upholding the Shield alone – without any ability upgrade – will cost half of Jesse's energy pool, as will telekinetically holding an object. More energy is consumed if the Shield has to absorb damage or Shield Rush is used, or when more than one object is grabbed or these are actually launched. No further such action is possible until the pool is refilled completely. In addition, each action does not have its own energy pool – the same one is shared between all related abilities.
There is a number of mods that either reduce the amount of energy consumed by abilities or help Jesse to increase her energy pool or its refill rate.
