[view | edit | history | purge]

This template places a superscripted "[sic]" which links to the Sic Wikipedia article.

"sic" = "thus", "just as"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written"

"sic" is used to mark cited or quoted text that contains orthographic or factual errors. It shall indicate that the error(s) contained are in fact part of the quotation and shouldn't be "corrected", as quotations in general shouldn't be.

Usage

Add {{sic}} behind the wrong term/word/error. If used outside {{quote}} or an italic section in general, it should be surrounded by apostrophes to make it italic, two each before and after. A little space before it is automatically added which looks better with italic superscript.

Example
[[Alberto Tommasi|Mr. Tomassi]]''{{sic}}'', [[Head of Communications (achievement and trophy)|Head of Communications]]

results in

Mr. Tomassi[sic], Head of Communications
