Cafeteria — control

The cafeteria is a location in the Executive Sector of the Oldest House.

Background

Managed by the Federal Bureau of Control's Department of Unhuman Affairs,^[1] this staff cafeteria serves the employees of the Executive Sector.

Layout

The cafeteria is a large, open cubic space with interspersed displays of vegetation. A balcony along the south and east walls hides the line kitchen along the south and an alcove with a Mold-infested Safe Room in the east, while a seating section in the north is covered by a an overhang of plants. Two doorways in the west and north respectively lead to the Communications Dept. and Dead Letters, but only the latter can be used. A staircase in the southwest ostensibly leads to Central Executive, but the doorway is also blocked off. On the ground floor to either side of the staircase are the women's and men's restrooms.

Central Executive is still accessible by climbing the stairs to the balcony and heading through the Accounting Department (in the reverse of how this area is first accessed during Unknown Caller.) The Nostalgia Department, permanently subject to deep Hiss corruption, cannot be entered, and approaching it will cause Jesse to lose health. This area around the balcony is surrounded by many deceased Bureau personnel, Rangers and regular agents alike.

There are three standard resource crates around the cafeteria. One is in the men's restroom, one is in the Safe Room, and one is on the ledge filled with plants along the north wall (to reach it, either Levitate or jump up from the staircase railing.)
